One of the most important pieces of archery equipment is the string. I have tested many brands and types of strings over the years, in an effort to discover the best combination of materials and strand count. D97 has consistantly been the most stable and durable of the material on the market. All of the flemish twist strings that I build are made of D97 and have padded loops. The strand count varies according to the bow weight at the desired draw length. The padded loops accomplish two things:

One: The extra padding in the loops protects the limb tips by distributing the pressure in the string groove over a larger surface area. This can extend the life of your bow.

Two: By having less strands in the center portion of the string and more in the loops, you gain the benefits of a skinny string when it comes to arrow speed and the benefits of a fat string when it comes to low vibration and sound dampening. The best of both worlds.
